Thanksgiving Day 11/24/11
News Release:
The Alliance to Restore Native American Names to holy and sacred sites has just struck a chord in their effort to do just that. May 16th SHB 1084 was signed by Washington State Governor Chris Gregiore. The bill re establishes the WA State Board of Geographic Names of Places, which was abolished in 2010 due to budget constraints. With the Board re established, creates an avenue to take the current effort to restore the Native name to the mountain. The bill will go into effect 90 days from the date signed, Aug 8th.
The Alliance now has a place to take the effort to restore the Aboriginal Indigenous name to the tallest mountain in the lower 48 states, erroneously named after a British Naval Officer whom never set eyes on the majestic mountain, to Ti'Swaq'. www.RestoreNativeNames.org
